Community

The CNCF End User Community connects organizations running cloud native technologies in production. Find the people, groups, meetings, and practical resources that help end users learn from one another and shape CNCF priorities.

Start here

The End User mailing list and the #enduser channel in CNCF Slack are private, application-gated spaces for the End User Community, so end user organizations can have candid peer discussions while still building in the open.

Governance and leadership

The Technical Advisory Board (TAB) oversees the End User Community, its User Groups, and its Technical Community Groups. See the Governance page for how these groups are formed, run, and held accountable.

Reference architectures

The TAB-led Reference Architecture Submission Process describes how to submit a real-world architecture for peer and TAB review. Browse the architecture catalog.

Submissions can begin with the in-repo reference architecture template, or through the CNCF TAB issue template and pull request template when the material is ready.

Contribution ladder

You do not need to be a maintainer to contribute to the End User Community. Start small and move up as your time and interest allow.

  1. Listen and connect — Request mailing-list membership or apply to the End User Contributor Program for access to End User-only discussion forums, including the private #enduser channel.
  2. Show up — Attend the public TAB meeting or a User Group or Technical Community Group call.
  3. Share what you know — Answer questions, recommend a resource, or point peers to a case study from your experience.
  4. Contribute a reference architecture — Document a real-world design through the in-repo submission template or the TAB submission process.
  5. Help shape direction — Join a User Group, a Technical Community Group, or the TAB to advise on priorities and represent end user needs.

Projects born at end user organizations

Production becomes open source

Projects born at end-user organizations

Some of the most widely adopted CNCF projects started as internal tools built to solve real production problems. The End User Community helps teams share those breakthroughs with the ecosystem.

Running something your peers would benefit from? Talk to the End User TAB about sharing projects and architectures.

CNCF End User Support Staff

Your membership in the CNCF funds full time staff to help coordinate community efforts. This includes access to community experts with hundreds of years of collective OSS experience, as well as world class marketing and event support.
